So, there was a famous small restaurant in Peshawar (Now in Pakistan) named as Mukhey Da Dhaba, owned by an elder gentleman, Mokha Singh. A young man was there as a worker named as Kundan Lal Gujral, who invented the world famous Tandoori Chicken.

Yes, you heard that right, this story also includes the worldwide popularity of tandoori chicken. Kundan Lal Gujral was working in Mukhey Da Dhaba with his young mind creativity, as first he invented Tandoori chicken by just doing experiments in it! As the time passed, Mokha Singh health deteriorated with his old age, he sold his shop to Kundan Lal Gujral, who named the shop as Moti Mahal.

In 1947, when India-Pakistan partitioned, KL Gujral moved to Delhi, India. Delhi already has a history of privileged Mughlai cuisine. KL Gujral has started a small restaurant named as Moti Mahal Deluxe in Daryaganj, Delhi. Now, after 70 years, this restaurant has become a chain of so many branches across India, which are managed by his grandson, Monish.

But, their taste of butter chicken is still the most demanded and popular curry in non-veg category of Indian cuisine. The beauty of their Chicken lies in the subtle balance of the velvety and tangy texture.
